Backhoe Tires
Backhoe diggers have their function and design largely explained by their name. Their main feature is a digging bucket attached to a two-part articulated arm, mounted on a tractor vehicle.
The digger consists of a boom, which is the part of the arm closest to the machine, a dipper carrying the bucket and the king-post pivot, which connects to the vehicle and serves to provide left and right slewing of the arm. Often times backhoe attachments can be equipped to a tractor post-manufacturing or the backhoe loader can be designed as such from the start.
Backhoe loaders are considered general purpose machines, which fill in the roles of other specialized equipment. Their utility and good performance is often dictated by the original design and features of their tools. When the vehicle is equipped with the right backhoe tires, it can be of great help on various job sites and tasks to be done.
One thing that makes McLaren’s backhoe tires so good is the Semi-Pneumatic Technology™ utilized in their design. All tires feature this puncture resistant design, which has been proven as one of the most effective for solid cushion tires equipped on a wide range of models: Volvo, John Deere, Caterpillar, New Holland, JCB and Case. Thanks to the Semi-Pneumatic Technology™, backhoe tires are durable and strong, while retaining a cushioning effect, which is so needed for every work project. The secret lies within the three layers of special rubber compound combined with relief holes that absorb shock. It is a recipe for success, used in all of the following Nu-Air backhoe tires:
- Nu-Air® Dirt Terrain (DT) Tire – there is nothing more important than superb traction and stability when it comes to off-road application. That is exactly what the DT Nu-Air series provide, all due to the deep tread pattern. It makes driving in deep mud, rocks and sand easy and smooth. The impact of the tires is notable even when they are only installed on the front. The DT line is an excellent choice for backhoe tires that will be used on snow, dirt, mud, mining and quarry fields, which are all generally considered tough terrains. They fit a wide range of sizes: 10-16.5, 12-16.5, 12-20.0, 13-24.0, 14-20.0, 14-24.0, 15-20.0, 17.5-25, and 23.5-25.
- Nu-Air® All Terrain (AT) Tire – hard surfaces are the bane of all backhoe tires, as they lead to a lot of wear. Add rough off-road conditions, and you get a challenge for backhoe tires. Whenever in doubt, it is best to resort to the Nu-Air AT line. They feature an original tread pattern to ensure superb traction in off-road work. The secret lies within the wide footprint design, which contributes to more surface contact and lower ground pressure. Thus the life of the tire is extended, even when only one pair for the front end is used. The pattern of the AT line is the best solution for abrasive cement, concrete and asphalt, but it generally performs well on any surface. The ATs fit sizes 10-16.5, 12-16.5, 12-20.0, 13-24.0, 14-24.0, 17.5-25, 20.5-25, and 5-25.
- Nu-Air® (RT) Tire – terrains filled with scrap, rocks and various debris are no joke – they present a real challenge for backhoe tires. That is exactly the type of work you equip Nu-Air RTs for. Thanks to the specially developed tread pattern, even the toughest environments become manageable. The RTs are well suited for size 14-24.0 and work wonderfully where other backhoe tires fail – all thanks to the special tread pattern and the wide footprint.
- Nu-Air® (SS) Tire – if your backhoe machine is done with the work on off-road terrains and is headed to a flat concrete or asphalt area, the Nu-Air SS line is best suited for it. This design features no tread pattern, which may look unusual, but has been tested and found as the best solution flat surfaces. It provides supreme surface contact and is regarded as the best option for OTR tires. One added benefit is that it is largely affordable and fits a good number of tire sizes: 12-20.0, 14-24.0, 17.5-25, 20.5-25, and 23.5-25.
